MOVEMENT CLASSES

Mindful movement with awareness and purpose is a natural way to expand physical energy, improve mental clarity, free blocked or stagnant emotions and connect with the creative spirit within.


LifeCentrics' movement classes and services are non-impact while able to contribute to cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, balance and an overall sense of well- being.


The variety of classes and services are appropriate for all age and fitness levels.


Carol's combined experience as a rehabilitation therapist and certified movement specialist brings a unique, professional approach to teaching and movement instruction.

The Nia Technique (Nia) is a unique fusion of fitness and wellness that is designed to help you approach life with purpose, feeling, passion, and electricity. Nia blends principles and techniques from Tai Chi, Yoga, Modern, Jazz and Duncan dance, Tae-kwon-doe, Aikido, The Feldenkrais Technique and The Alexander Technique. Nia is a non-impact type of movement that provides the opportunity for individualized expression of mind, body, spirit and emotions.

Pilates is a mat based class and method of movement that conditions and trains both the body and mind. The movements work deep structural muscles as well as superficial muscles, increasing strength, body awareness, postural alignment, graceful movement and control of the breath. It offers simultaneous stretching and strengthening that works for everyone from athletes to people recovering from injuries. Pilates can strengthen and tone your entire body, especially abdominals, buttocks, legs, shoulders, and back.

Restorative Balanced Moves™
is a gentle therapeutic movement class designed specifically for seniors or individuals recovering from or living with illness, disease or injury. The 45 minute class is a rhythmic blend of Tai Chi, Nia,Yoga and guided relaxation. It is great for increasing mobility, balance and strength, all contributing to a higher level of functional movement and life activity.
Time: 1:30 -2:15 Tuesdays (Individuals in Cancer Recovery)

Personal Movement Coaching provides the perfect bridge to reclaiming an active, whole, and functional life for individuals living with:

Individual Yoga Therapy is a combination of classical yoga and elements of contemporary mind/body psychology that facilitates a powerful release of physical and emotional tension. This is a one on one process lasting 1 1/2 hours. Through assisted yoga postures and non-directive dialogue, the practitioner guides clients to experience the connection of their physical and emotional selves. Using guided breathing, this connection is held and explored, fostering release, personal growth and healing. Moving into Wellness is a movement and support group that nurtures body, mind, spirit and emotions! Designed especially for women in all stages of cancer recovery, the sessions "meet you and your energy level where you are" and will awaken your senses, expand your energy, rejuvenate and relax your body/mind and help you celebrate your inherent wholeness! The gentle movement experience is enhanced and supported by guided relaxation and facilitated group dialogue and interaction. This FREE program is supported by Cancer Action through Back in the Swing funds. Weekly groups meet at Cancer Action in Overland Park, KS and are facilitated by Sharon Bowman and Jennifer Beatty.
